Jessica Ames, LICSW

Jessica Ames received a Master’s Degree in clinical social work from Smith College in 2007.  Before starting her individual private practice in 2015, Jessica worked as a clinician for several well-known organizations in the Boston area, including Boston Children’s Hospital, the Manville School at Judge Baker Children’s Center, and South Shore Mental Health (now known as Aspire).

While Jessica has worked with children and adults of all ages, her current client base is primarily made up of older teenagers and adults. She specializes in the practices of EMDR, Buddhist psychology and meditation instruction, and sees clients struggling with infertility, trauma, anxiety as well as life transitions and grief.

Jessica seeks to build on her clients’ strengths and promote resilience, while also acknowledging vulnerabilities. She views psychotherapy as a collaborative process between client and therapist in which the end goal is healing, growth and empowerment. While she has received specialized training in a variety of evidence-based practices, she understands that the success of any therapeutic approach rests upon building a strong and trusting relationship between client and therapist.

Jessica expanded her solo practice and established The Riverbend Group in 2021 to meet increased demand for therapeutic services and provide an opportunity for clinicians with the same philosophy to share space, consult with one another and pool administrative services. Today, the practice serves a diverse group of clients ranging in age from children to seniors.
